I am a twenty-plus year science and technology professional, with interests in data acquisition, archival, and dissemination. My experience includes architecture of intranets used for data processing, interfacing with external partner networks, creation of data feeds to scientific data visualization systems, development/maintenance of public safety decision support systems (DSS), as well as the application of open source software to meet technology needs. Working in a hybrid government/university setting in a small agency with an operations mandate but a startup-like atmosphere has afforded me the opportunity to try out the latest and greatest in technology (e.g. web, microservices, virtual machines, containers), many times long before others in the public sector. I have administered numerous Linux and Unix variants, most desktop operating systems, and been a source of technical support for several mobile and embedded platforms. My programming experience includes having developed in, experimented with, or at least diagnosed many modern programming languages (both compiled and scripted). One particular source of pride has been my opportunity to introduce, train, and assist others (states, regions, countries) in building their own systems like the one where I have worked.

My educational background includes coursework in the fields of engineering, computer science, meteorology, and geography, among others. I was a coauthor on cited scientific papers.
